How To Create The Perfect Centerpiece For Your Dining Table

Wedding Centerpiece IdeasApartment living is tricky sometimes. By now we have lived in four apartments together and each one was different than the other. Depending on the layout and size, we’ve found that sometimes it makes sense to have a dining table and sometimes it just won’t fit or work with the style of the apartment. We’ve been blessed with more living area space in our current apartment which is why we are writing this post about decorating a dining space.

You may recall one of our earliest blog posts on how to build your own farm table for less than $150. Well we kind of built our current dining table too. A nearby department store was closing and they happened to be selling all of their furniture as well. We found this gorgeous wooden tabletop on one of their displays and immediately fell in love with it. And then we fell in love with it even more when we flipped it and realized it used to be a barn door. We couldn’t pass it up, so we bought it, put some pipe legs on it and called it our table.

After we made it into a table we realized it needed something in the middle of it to make it pop.  Something a little more than the traditional flowers in a vase centerpiece. We knew we wanted something earthy, simple but also romantic. Because our dining table has so much character already, we don’t want a centerpiece that will overshadow the beauty and rawness of the table, we want it to complement it.

So we drew some inspo and came up with the perfect combo: greenery, candles and a touch of terra cotta.

And we realized that creating the perfect centerpiece for your table doesn’t require much work, really. It starts with a vision of what you would love it to look like, a little shopping, organizing and wa-lah: you’ve got your centerpiece.

We went to Trader Joe’s to buy some Eucalyptus and Michaels to buy the faux garland, candles, candle vases and terra cotta saucers.

Next, we arranged the greenery to our liking and added in the candles. It turned out to be exactly what we were going for and we are very pleased with it. It adds some calmness and earthiness to our space.
